| Northwest Florida Daily News DESTIN — The Georgia-based Special Operators Transition Foundation (SOTF), a nonprofit organization that assists U. S. Special Operations and Special Forces veterans as they transition into the civilian job market, is hosting an Oct. 16 dinner fundraiser in Destin featuring a member of SEAL Team Six involved in the 2011 mission that resulted in the death of Islamic terrorist leader Osama bin Laden. The fundraiser, set for 6 p. m. Oct. 16 in the Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village, will feature Rob O'Neill, who retired as a Navy SEAL the year after the raid on bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. O'Neill's claim to have fired the shot that killed bin Laden has created some controversy, particularly among SEALs critical of individual claims regarding SEAL activities in light of the group's informal code of silence. Undisputed, however, is the fact that O'Neill was one of two members of SEAL Team Six who were involved in a final confrontation with bin Laden.
