Jim Gaffigan is considered a clean comic, but this covers adult material and is at least PG-13. The material may be a little darker, but that comes with having 5 children and a wife with a brain tumor so that's to be expected. I feel that his popularity is based on honesty which includes serious health issues. It wasn't exploitative or designed to elicit empathy. After addressing the issue early, he returns to formula and still manages to be as funny as ever. Comedians are criticized for being too bland, repetitive and non boundary-pushing. There has always been a dark side to the Hoosier state native, talking about wanting to die young and get it over with, lots of cancer jokes if that is a thing, and his lack of desire to be health-obsessed.
